How I Battle Sadness

According to dictionary, sadness is the condition or quality of being sad. But don’t you think that it means and hurts and affects much more to us? Though I’m only fifteen and I have just started living my life, let me share some of my thoughts that always kept me going at times when I’m low and the times when I wanted the world to end. I am honoured and delighted to share it with you readers and I shall be grateful if I could be of help to anyone going through this phase.

We must understand that sadness is an ocean, and sometimes we drown, while other days we are forced to swim. We cry when we are sad, and its perfectly fine to do so. There are moments when I wish I could roll back the clock and take all the sadness away, but I have the feeling that if I did, the joy would be gone as well. There is no greater sorrow than to recall in misery the time when we were happy. But there’s always a scope of appreciation, right? I fear that the word ‘happy’ would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.

Call it a practical application……

Sadness gives depth. Happiness gives height. Sadness gives roots. Happiness gives branches. Happiness is like a tree going into the sky, and sadness is like the roots going down into the womb of the earth. Both are needed, and the higher a tree goes, the deeper it goes, simultaneously. The bigger the tree, the bigger will be its roots. In fact, it is always in proportion. That’s its balance.

Don’t be ashamed to weep; its right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, our passion for the long life awaiting is sealed inside to comfort us.

  1. “There is no greater sorrow than to recall in misery the time when we were happy”, this single line is ‘remarkable’. Must have read this on the same day it’s been posted…when I felt the greater sorrow to extreme extent.
    Balanced writing , sensible

  2. Thank you so much! I hope my words helped illuminate your day.
Truly, there’s nothing worse than recalling misery in happy times, we must learn to live in the present. Present is the truth which we have to survive.
Stay happy and have a great day!

It’s going to at all times be stimulating to read content material from different writers and apply just a little something from their store. I’d favor to use some with the content material on my blog whether or not you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a link on your web blog. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I’m gratified by the manner in which whenanintrovertspeaks.home.blog deals with this type of subject! Generally to the point, sometimes polemic, without fail well-researched and challenging.

  6. Nice piece here sister. Although I like how you balance out the difference between sadness and happiness, and how sadness is critical to understanding the value of happiness, I do not wish that anyone should be sad. You have already had that experience in life, and you know how it feels, it is now time for you to be happy. There is something called Joy. Joy is the constant influx of happiness. You see, Joy comes from the Lord. God has a spirit, that spirit is called the holy spirit. The holy spirit brings Joy with it.

Concerning the holy spirit, the Bible says in Galatians 5:22
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”.

You see, my friend, it all comes from the Lord. Thankfully, the Lord is extremely good, and he pours out his mercies to those who ask. God is merciful beyond words. His mercies are for many, including you and me sister. I would strongly advise that you pray about this situation. Pray to the Lord about it

The Bible says in Philippians 4:6
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done”.

    God says in Isaiah 41:10
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand”.

If you do not yet have a relationship with the Lord, I would strongly suggest that you begin one. There are a lot of blessings and mercy that flow from being in fellowship with the Lord. If you already have a relationship with the Lord, that is great! keep working to deepen your relationship with him.
